Well...site's STILL down with no real explanation. Most of us have now migrated to PointAsk. Another site supposedly without anybody at the helm; they sent a message to the newbies saying they are dedicated to NOT shutting down, like our site and the site the newbies on our site migrated from (we had an influx of them before we shut down--poor guys--losing TWO sites!), but eh, I've heard promises like THAT before. -.- (That's me keeping my mouth pursed so I don't say something really snotty. ^_^ )

One of the newbies on PA is the sort of "second in command" from the old site. She said that the webmaster of the old site had been informed and would look into it as soon as "he could be in Boston" which is NOT this weekend. Er...he needs to be in Boston to fix his site?? o_O I don't understand THAT, but then again, I've never understood computers...

I don't know. I still think based on what SN said right before it went down that either they're both in on it and he shut down the site on purpose, or it really was hacked by someone she knows.

I've also been wondering if it's not all some big psych experiment and was never really meant to be a normal "site" at all! Well, face it...I DO know that SN has been keeping up the same act for years. I did a search on the name that she gave on the site and found several posts online from her dating from 1998-2000. Always the same name and personal information, albeit sketchy. So, she is either really who she says she is, or a really good actress. (I still don't believe her when she says she's a genius and mentally stable and has the body of a 20-something woman when she should be around 50...)

The webmaster was making no money off the site. It would be no real loss to him if we were all to leave--it was just a bunch of fighting anyway, which he promised to mediate and yet didn't--so the only stake he could have in bringing the site back is if he had real friends, or if it was his little pet experiment. Take a look, he vowed he would delete any more offensive stuff SN said, and didn't. (I KNOW he was on the site, and I even sent him links to the offensive posts--no reply, no deletion.) Why would he make a promise and then fail to keep it, unless entirely apathetic...or not as hostile toward her as I thought?

She would know about the "hacking" (downing of the site) only if she/someone she knows did it, or if he told her about it...

Very, very strange.

But, I'm reaching X-Files territory here. :) To echo a sentiment I've heard parroted many times and ALWAYS loathed, "It's just a website." I'm glad I got all my dream posts off of it before it went down. Whew!

There were a few more humorous things I would have liked to get...I saved a couple of them ("Rules For Cats" is one), but lost the rest, if it's really gone for good...I'm still in a bit of denial (it's been down and come back before), but it's hard to believe there'll never be any more message postings, no political fights, no poor ratings for good answers, no "Quit posting that"!s, no SN and her whining and moaning, no flame wars...

Hey...I thought I said I was going to MISS this site! ;)
