The Truth About LaCroix

10-13-02 @ 12:27 pm EDT

I just finished resizing all the pics I wanted to save from my trip down the tracks...thirty of them...GAH!! It took me TWO HOURS just to do it! Because the computer was getting all gronky and stuff. I had flashbacks of using Stella, our old Tandy with Windows 3.1. I remember how freaky Windows 98 was when I first tried it. Then on seeing Win3.1 again, thinking how BASIC it all was. Program Manager...*shudder*

Anyway, the farm one doesn't look quite so bad resized, though it would look better if it were in focus. I'll try to upload those to the Local Color album tonight, so PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THEM! Some are quite pretty!

I discovered something I hadn't known about my character Francois LaCroix the other day. (This just happens with my characters, I'll be sitting there, then I'll think, "What if...?" and the next thing I know, the "what if" is definite.) Seems he had a family before he "discovered" Manitou Island, a pregnant wife and a little girl. They were attacked and killed, though, by an enemy Indian tribe, and so Francois was left without a family and without any reason to stay. He was already a voyageur before that, but I guess when you have no real reason to settle down you tend to wander around a lot more. So he started traversing back and forth across the region, and eventually sailed through a fog...and you know what happened next.

Still, poor Francois. I take it he must sympathize with Stick-In-The-Dirt a lot, since their situations were so similar. (Stick lost only his wife, but he loved her dearly--and it was indirectly his own fault that she died.)

Well, I think that was all I wanted to say. Currently working on Part 94, which has yet to gain a title. Maybe soon.

I can't stop shivering. We got our first snow about an hour ago, with the leaves still green and the sun still shining. Weird. Later...

I am yesterday; I know tomorrow.
