I Want To Do Something 06-07-03 @ 1:20 pm EDT There are about 3000 words more before Part 6 of the Ameni Chronicles will be ready for reposting. I want to read more of it right now, but Dad's snoring on the couch with the TV going and I can't proof while the TV is on. I wish he'd just go back to bed since he apparently wants to sleep. Why snore on the couch with the TV on? Yes, I nap on the couch with the TV on, but I know for a fact he doesn't need some kind of noise in the background to sleep. I have to nap with the TV on when I'm napping on the couch else it's just too quiet. When I sleep in my bed I have to use my SoundSpa. This is very annoying because I really wanted to get more done today. I guess it will have to wait until tonight. I spent too much time working on a new possible layout for the Chronicles site. I tried hard to make the current brown scheme work with the layout I've got on the Diaryland version of Skew (which I've decided to use on the Chronicles site), but I can't do it; it always turns out looking lousy. Brown is just a difficult color to get right. So I fiddled around and perhaps I'll go with a purple scheme. The Manitou Island site is purple. *sigh* I hate doing something I've already done...the Radioactive Playground is blue...MI is purple...the Per is a dusty rose...the Sunset Collection is golden brown...the D4D_A is a dark tealish color...see, they're all their own color schemes, all different even if the layouts all utilize the same basic HTML skills I know. I hate using a color that's already been used, but...brown isn't working...and green and red don't lend themselves well to website design. Green gets sickening after a while, no matter how lovely a color it is...and red, that's just, ugh. It either looks too bloody or it looks like lipstick. And I do not want people thinking either of those thoughts when they visit the Chronicles site. The story itself is bloody enough, and there is certainly no lipstick. Speaking of bloody, the Chronicles have gotten a violent new addition in the character of Djiu--the before unmentioned general of Nehekhi's tribe--and he's not a pleasant character at all. There's a very vicious scene in Part 6, but it contributes to the later Mahakhi storyline, with the formation of the Great Red Tribe. The way the story currently is, Nehekhi has no real reason to want to overthrow his own general. The way it's being rewritten, he has a very good reason for wanting it to happen. Bla bla, who cares unless they read it. That SHOULD be posted within the next few days, if I can ever get it proofed...Part 7 probably won't need TOO much new material, though it needs to blend in more with Part 8. Speaking of the dreaded Part 8, that chapter will make a lot more sense once rewritten. As it is it happens very abruptly and seemingly for no reason other than shock value--which admittedly was why it was first written that way (Part 8 was written BEFORE some of the earlier parts)--but I want it to serve a greater purpose...or at least to fit in better...so hopefully the rewrite will fix that. But like I said, bla bla... I keep getting Spammed by moderators here. Granted, it's not this horribly frequent thing, but it's happened at least two or three times. I'm sure they must have their reasons, but...why do they e-mail ME? They're people I have never even heard from before and have never contacted so I can't think of why they'd be so concerned as to send me an e-mail. I dunno...their messages would just ring more true if we got to know each other first, wouldn't they? The first two, a while back, were links from somebody to look at one of her items. I was like...um...why? Why did she think *I* would be particularly interested in them? I had no clue...today I got an e-mail asking me to click on a link to add my birthday because another moderator wants to keep apprised of it. Why...? Nobody remembers my birthday, so why should THIS person want to know? :/ I'm not angry or snarky, just beyond confused. It SOUNDS like a nice gesture, but...I cannot help but think if I click on that link it will sign me up for Spam from one of those devious greetings websites...and I do not want to take that risk. No thank you! I don't want inspirational greetings or even Happy B-Day Spam. I'd rather have no mail than "Happy Birthday! Here's an offer you might be interested in..." mail. I can't be sure that would happen if I clicked on it--I like to think this person is decent enough to not send such a link--but I really can't know. I don't know this person personally, and haven't a clue why they'd want to be alerted about my birthday...I doubt they would e-mail me in October anyway, and even if they did I could be pretty sure everybody else got the exact same e-mail on their birthdays...if anyone cares I'm already on the birthday list on this site, owned by W...um...something kinney...drat...I can't spell her name and I'm too lazy to open up another window. She's a moderator. That's all I know. If it helps, I wuv Amazon.com gift certificates. *cough* I was GOING to say maybe I should start work on Part 16 of RTMI (I posted Part 15 on Thursday), but I spent so much time babbling about Spam that I don't know if I have time left! :/ Oooh...my stomach hurts. <:( And wouldn't you know it, NOW Dad has turned off the TV and left the room...*sigh*
