More Things That Are Not Crabs 06-13-03 @ 10:43 am EDT I think I'll have to do this in two entries because it's very long. I have to make a correction to the astrology info I offered on myself. That site gave the incorrect meaning of the symbol I was looking at. So anything I have marked as Biquintile, I think, is really Sesquiquadrate. I think. They're minor aspects not usually covered so it matters little anyway. I went looking up what sign and house and aspect info I could find at two good sites I've known for a while and compiled it into one HTML document...it's about 73kb long though so I'll try to post it in two separate entries. This first one is from the "Astrology In The Age Of Aquarius" site, http://www.fortunecity.com/roswell/jekyll/75/ (UK mirror at http://www.achernar.btinternet.co.uk/ ). I was considering putting into bold or a different color what parts I felt related to me the most, but...I can't really judge these things since I'm too close to myself, obviously. If anyone is bored enough to read this and knows me well enough they can decide what fits and what doesn't...I'll look at it in the future when I have more time. Seems I keep dallying in here rather than working on my writing lately. Let's see if one entry will accept all the first part...and keep in mind there are some formatting and spelling typos; not mine. PT. 1 FIRE = 3 (average) You probably have an adequate amount of self-confidence, and you are able to decide what you want and to set about achieving your aims. You are sufficiently sure of yourself to express your wishes openly and honestly, yet you are also able to allow other people their rights as individuals. You are quite enthusiastic when your interest is aroused, and keen to see some action: you are unlikely to tolerate long periods of inactivity well. Your good sense of self-worth will sustain you through times of hardship and you are fairly resilient, not being likely to be cast down for too long by any failure. While you can be quite self-reliant, you are also aware of the importance of becoming involved with other people, as you will be able to incorporate the understanding you gain thereby into your further self-development. EARTH = 1 OR 2 You are not particularly concerned with material things, including your own needs for money, food and practical ability, and you need to become more au fait with the requirements for smooth living in the real world, otherwise you will be brought down to earth with a bump from time to time, having neg- lected some obvious facet of reality for too long. You need to look after your physical needs to some extent at least, for only then are your plans and ideas likely to come to reality, rather than to remain impractical dreams. However, you may be quite creative, for you are not likely to be too con- cerned about practical obstacles in your path which would daunt others. Just make sure that you pay some respect to the requirements of healthy living at the physical level, as well as investing your energies into the development of spiritual or emotional goals and ideas. AIR = 3 (average) You show a fair balance between the ability to go about your own concerns, and the ability to appreciate the wishes and points of view of others, without necessarily agreeing with them. Thus you can detach yourself from your own feelings and concerns in order to cooperate with others, and this detachment is also helpful for allowing clear forward planning. However, at least in Western society, education places considerable emphasis on fitting in with society and the wishes of other people, and you need to make sure that you don't identify too strongly with this notion! At best you are likely to use your ability to think clearly in such a way that it helps you pursue your own objectives as well as enabling you to contribute successfully towards joint efforts. Fortunately you are likely to achieve the necessary balance between the needs of self and the needs of others. WATER = 3 (average) You are likely to be in touch with your feelings, and to be able to empathise with the feelings of other people, provided that you have not been taught to dismiss feelings as unimportant in comparison with practical considerations or with maintaining strong boundaries between your inner sense of self and the outside world. You are also aware that intangible factors play a more important part in human behaviour than is generally recognised, and are not likely to deny the importance of your feelings or those of others. However, you are also able to keep the importance of feelings in perspective, using your judgement as to when to become involved emotionally, and when to allow more practical or theoretical considerations to take precedence, or when to decide that action in self-interest is indicated irrespective of the feelings of other people. However people are unlikely to see you as insensitive. You were born with the Sun in Libra, which means that your conscious will is directed towards developing as full an understanding of the world around you as is possible. You are a friendly person, for you recognise that you are not going to learn much about the world without engaging with other people and listening to their points of view. You will seek a variety of friends, so that you experience a wide range of opinions which will further your att- empts to formulate a theory about how the world ticks. You value the concept of etiquette, realising that it has been developed to make society run smoothly, and you prefer to avoid departures from behaviour which appears to be acceptable. You may therefore prefer not to assert yourself too strongly, and if you do so, it is likely to be in defence of your idea-system, rather than for more personal reasons. You may think that you should rise above the realities of everyday human experience, and behave as though everything were all right in the world. Behaving like this may help the world to bec- ome a better place, but it should not be at the expense of your other needs. With your Moon in Aries, your emotional response to the world and other people is coloured by an unconscious desire to get ahead at all costs. Therefore when your feelings are aroused you act with great force and directness, for you develop a sense of security in this way. You are courageous, for you have a feeling that what you are doing is right, but when your anger is ar- oused you tend to be impulsive and careless, saying and doing things that you may later regret. In relationships you express yourself clearly, but you may feel insecure if you cannot take the lead all the time. You need to remember that many of your fears and phobias centred round loss of control are based more in the past and in your own mind than in current reality. Once you develop more understanding of your emotional set-up, as you will through trial and error, you will realise that you will benefit from throwing yourself whole heartedly into some cause you really value, using your emotional energy more constructively. You will also learn not to alienate others by rash displays of temper that they may remember long after you have forgotten them. With Taurus rising in your horoscope, your initial approach to life is to attempt to deal with it systematically. Your natural way of organising your immediate experience is motivated by a strongly developed ability to perceive the details in the material world around you, even though you may not be con- sciously aware of this, since it is unconsciously based. You therefore show a keen awareness of the world around you, and you process your experience through your senses. This takes some time, and you are likely to come across as a cautious methodical person who is well grounded in the material world, and who recognises the potential therein, as well as the limitations of mat- erial reality. You are likely to explore the world through your physical senses, and you believe strongly in the value of personal experience in dec- iding on a course of action. You may be rather sceptical about matters of which you have no direct experience, and you need to develop an ability to place your experiences within a broader framework in order to avoid the rep- utation for being too "down to earth". With Mercury in Virgo, your conscious attempts to organise your experiences operate in the context of your appreciation that considerable attention to detail is required if life is to run smoothly. You therefore take an anal- ytic approach to tasks, breaking them down into small steps, and proceeding to execute each step logically and in the right order. This is excellent for those matters where efficiency and predictability are essential, and your judgement and critical faculties are strongly developed, even if you tend to pay rather obsessional attention to apparently trivial matters. This is only likely to be a problem either if you get so involved in your methods that you lose sight of the overall purpose, or if you try to oper- ate using your critical faculties outside of those areas where they are appropriate. Thus using your organisational ability at work or in some hobby is much more likely to be appropriate than trying to organise your emotional life or indulging in too much self-criticism when you fail to satisfy your own high expectations of yourself. With Venus in Scorpio, your conscious appreciation of the world and other people tends to be influenced strongly by how you are feeling at the time, for your ob- jective understanding of the world is highly coloured by subjective emotional considerations. You rely highly upon your emotional opinions when dealing with other people, and if you like someone you will become intensely involved with them, just as you will make it plain if you disagree with them. Other people may not always understand the amount of emotional conviction that underlies your opinions and value judgements, and they may find you rather hard to fathom out, at least until you let them get to know you better. Once you have taken a stance over some aspect of the world, you are unlikely to change your mind, and while your strong-mindedness can certainly be an asset, other people may tend to see it rather as stubbornness or inflexibility. You certainly need to re- examine your views about the world from time to time to ensure that your opin- ions are indeed based upon a certain amount of reason, rather than pure feeling, then your strong capacity for human understanding can manifest at its best. With Mars in Scorpio, your psychological drive towards assertive action based on a conscious appreciation of your emotional attitudes to people and situations is expressed with strength and persistence. You have a keen awareness of the emotional implications of any situation, and a retentive memory for your past feeling states. You have a keen awareness of your emotional desires, and are able to satisfy them most of the time, since your understanding of the way people tick emotionally is accurate, and you can take advantage of your sensitivity to atmosphere, saying and doing the right things at the right time to create the right effect. You may appear mysterious or secretive to others who are not on your wavelength, for you do not always express yourself openly. However you are persistent and others will realise that you are a force to be reckoned with. As you mature you will probably show more of yourself to the world, but you are really interested in finding out what makes you tick, though you will certainly become thoroughly involved with others in finding this out. With Jupiter in Gemini, your upbringing has taught you that in order to develop your personal potential to the full, you should gain as much understanding as possible of the world around you through asking questions and finding answers to them, so that you can develop a philosophy of life which is broadly based and which can then be applied to your own growth needs. This rather round about approach to gaining self-knowledge stems from the fact that your drive towards self-fulfilment is influenced by unconscious thought processes which fuel your curiosity and thirst for more knowledge. You want to develop con- fidence in yourself through pride in your ability to see many aspects of a situation, and to act in a versatile and adaptable way. While you may disc- over a great deal about the world and yourself with this approach, the pro- cess is primarily intellectual. This does not matter, unless you become so wrapped up in your search for objective understanding of the world that you lose sight of the more mundane or emotional aspects of human existence, which cannot be tied down according to any theoretical system, however brilliant. With Saturn in Leo, your upbringing has left you with a conscience structure of which you are acutely aware, for it affects your sense of self directly. You feel a keen sense of responsibility towards yourself, and for this rea- son you may find it hard to express yourself spontaneously, especially while you are young. You consider that you should develop high ideals and live up to them, and you may indeed manage to do this, becoming a noble and respected person. However there are a couple of problems. You may be so acutely sens- itive about your personality that you see the task of self-development as be- ing too difficult or too frightening, in which case you may use your self- awareness to become over-defensive rather than to pursue your own goals. Another possibility is that you will assume that just as your own sense of right and wrong comes from within yourself, the same is true for other people. This is not always the case, and you should be careful not to be too autocr- atic about asserting discipline over other people on purely subjective issues: make sure there is an objective need for criticism of other's behaviour. With Uranus in Scorpio, your prejudices about the world are likely to come to light in the way you relate to other people at a level which takes into acc- ount your conscious emotional response to them, for your belief system about the nature of the world, derived from your upbringing, is coloured by your conscious appreciation of the need to act upon the basis of your feelings. You are secretly quite proud of your emotional awareness, and although you may not show your understanding directly, you will live a life-style which suggests that you are keenly aware of the emotional factors which underlie much of human behaviour. If other people upset you, you will be quick to show this in original ways, and you may be penetratingly direct in your sarcasm when you put people in their place when they offend you. While you probably have a deeper understanding of human nature at an emotional level than do most people, you may all too easily assume that other people should have the same basic beliefs as yourself. This is not the case, and you would do better to listen to others more objectivelyy, even if this is hard for you. With Neptune in Sagittarius, you feel a strong commitment to develop a pers- onal philosophy of life, and this is likely to be a highly idealistic one, for that part of your conscience structure which encourages you to relate to other people according to the way you were taught you ought to feel, is influenced by factors in your upbringing which encourage you to gain as much experience of life at a personal level in order to develop broad understand- ing. Trying to cover considerable ground on a personal crusade towards fin- ding out your own purpose in life, while also taking emotional considerations involving other people into account is a major undertaking, and one at which you may baulk. You may therefore take too much for granted, living your life without any firm sense of direction, becoming overwhelmed by the variety of your experience and just drifting with it. More constructively, you should take up the challenge, in which case you may develop a highly inspired view of your place in the greater scheme of things, living a life devoted to finding out truths which are hidden to the majority of people. With Pluto in Libra, that part of your unconscious make-up which urges you to get ahead and to satisfy your personal demands operates as a powerful trans- formative power in your life, trying to make you more aware of your unconsc- ious motivations and bring them out in the open to be acted upon in a con- scious way to assist you in improving your objective understanding of other people and the world around you. You are therefore quick to perceive ways in which theories about objective reality are outdated, and you will want to develop and test out your own theories with a sense of urgency. This will give rise to compulsive interactions with the outer world and with other people, the underlying psychological aim being to achieve a greater understanding of the world outside yourself. In practice, you are likely to want to control the world and other people, for although the focus of your interest lies outside you, the motivation lies within, and part of you wants to ensure that other people remain under your control so that you can study them and learn from them. Be sure not to take this too far! Sun Opposition Moon Being born under the full moon, you are likely to experience some conflict between the directions of your conscious will and of your need for emotional security. Thus you may find that you feel insecure about going all out for what you really want, or you may act in haste and find that you feel unsat- isfied afterwards. You will probably attempt to solve your dilemma by in- volving yourself in all sorts of spirited actions, learning through your resulting emotional states what it is you really do want. You will there- fore eventually develop a considerable ability to organise your life to suit yourself, though you will still feel that you have two rather contrasting sides to your personality: at best you can flexibly have the best of both. Sun Semisextile Venus You are likely to feel some strain when acting according to your conscious will in pursuit of goals, since the way you assert yourself offends that part of you which takes a more objective view of the world, or else your beliefs about the world make it hard for you to assert yourself at all. You need to develop more confidence in both your actions and your ideas. Sun Semisquare or Sesquiquadrate Jupiter You may feel somewhat confused when trying to distinguish between goals that you really want to aim for and goals that you were taught were desirable. You may feel that you are obliged to conform to society's ideals, or that society tries to prevent you from choosing your own path in life. You need to clarify what you really want, then you will find you can attain this. Sun Sextile Saturn You probably prefer serious pursuits, for your strong conscience tells you that success is unlikely without proper discipline and organisation. You may have developed this preference as a result of habit, perhaps because you have experienced responsibilities from an early age, and you continue to seek out that which you are used to. However you will make the most of your ability to act constructively if you do so in the light of present re- ality, rather than because it is what you learned to do in the past. That way you will direct your energies into something you believe is really worth- while, and your common sense will help you towards success, while others will value your practical efficiency. Sun Sextile Neptune You are sensitive to the needs and wishes of other people, and you sometimes find it hard to distinguish between your personal goals and the common good. This may often work to your advantage, for you may well find that you need help from other people, just as you are well able to help them. At best you will be able to work constructively towards realising in practice some of the many dreams that stem from your active imagination. You might well have artistic leanings, or enjoy any form of work which involves helping other people. You should make sure however that your easy-going nature does not encourage you to become reluctant to take direct action in your own self-interest when the occasion demands this. Sun Conjunct Pluto The exercise of your conscious will towards achieving your personal objectives is influenced by unconscious material which also wants its own way at a level which is much less open to conscious direction. This means that there is a great amount of power and compulsion invested in your actions, together with a desire to have your own way at all costs. In order to benefit from your tremendous creative ( and destructive ) potential, you need to be aware of the force you use to get what you want, even if it is hard to control. You make a large impact on the world, transforming both the world and yourself in the process, for better or worse. You may be a bit of a loner, partly since you are driven from within, and partly because others are afraid of your power. Moon Opposition Mars Your unconscious emotional approach to the world is at odds with your more con- scious desire to act on the basis of your feelings. This is likely to lead to arguments, for one of two reasons. First you may identify with your own self-assertion, but find that your methods upset other people, and you then come across even more forcibly. Secondly you may find that other people just won't leave you alone emotionally; they appear to provoke you constantly. The problem really lies in the way you perceive things rather than in other people. You need to work on yourself to discover what you really need and how to go about getting it in a more appropriately organised way, then you can use your considerable emotional energies to better purpose. Moon Trine Saturn Your unconscious emotional response to the world is coloured by your consc- ience structure in such a way that the two cooperate well together. Thus your feelings are usually appropriate, though you may not express them too easily, since you tend to be rather conservative emotionally, disliking too much open display of feeling. In fact you feel more comfortable when your feelings can operate within a structured environment, and you therefore show a practical turn of mind, with considerable patience and common sense. You prefer traditional serious forms of recreation, rather than anything too unorthodox or impractical, but you should not close yourself completely to new emotional experiences or you will miss some opportunities. Moon Conjunct Ascendant You could be said to wear your heart on your sleeve, for your unconscious emotional response to the world is expressed spontaneously for all to see. This is especially true if your Moon Sign is the same as your Rising Sign. This carries the advantage that you are likely to express your feelings openly and directly, for you feel most secure when you are able to do this. You are well in touch with your emotions, which perhaps explains why you are so readily able to express them, but there is a small catch to watch out for. While emotional considerations are undoubtedly important to you, you need to make sure that you also develop the ability to express other aspects of your personality, in addition to your genuine strong feeling nature. Mercury Trine Jupiter Your conscious attempts to organise your experiences operate enthusiastically, with a good sense of timing. You are generally confident and optimistic about your ability to judge situations correctly, and you probably enjoy dealing with the detailed aspects of a situation, while holding onto some general overall plan. You have a good understanding of the different levels at which society operates, and you may have ability in languages or a fondness for travel and exploration. An education is important for you, so that you can learn the tricks of the trade that enable you to take short cuts when arriving at con- clusions. However you may tend to assume that everything will work out all right without too much effort on your part; this would be a mistake. Mercury Semisquare or Sesquiquadrate Saturn You may feel confused when it comes to organising yourself, for your consc- ience gets in your way, making you uncertain whether to do things your own way, or to do them according to other people's imaginary expectations of you. You will eventually learn your priorities for yourself, and you particularly need to keep an open mind about the possibility of altering your methods. Venus Square Saturn Your conscious drive towards achieving objective understanding of the world and relating to other people is strongly developed, but your upbringing has left you with a conscience structure which makes it hard for you to relate to other people. You may show considerable lack of confidence in your worth as a person, leading to inhibited behaviour for fear of criticism or reject- ion, or you may feel that the demands of the world prevent you from pursuing relationships and seeking understanding in a spontaneous way. Your fear may prevent you from sharing your ideas and values with others on an equal basis and you may feel generally lonely. If this is the case, you need to develop the capacity to trust yourself and others more: you may need help to do this. Venus Conjunct Uranus Your conscious attempts to achieve objective understanding of the world and to relate to other people operate in an unconventional way by ordinary stan- dards. You have an unusual way of looking at things, probably as a reaction to some strange restrictions you experienced as a child, and you demand con- siderable freedom to relate to people and the world in your own way. You are either bohemian in your own right, or you are attracted to others who are unpredictable or different in some way; for example you would be more likely than most to marry someone from a different race. However, although you appear very free and open, you are in fact quite logical and disciplined in your own way and you will insist on setting your own limits yourself. Mars Semisextile or Quincunx Jupiter You are likely to feel stress when you act on the basis of your conscious feelings, for your upbringing has left you with unrealistic beliefs about self-assertion. You will have to learn through experience to achieve a balance between inactivity and too much activity, for until you do, the for- mer may lead to missed chances and the latter to rashness and overhaste. Mars Conjunct Uranus Your upbringing has resulted in your developing an unusual way of understand- ing the world, and this shows up strongly when you assert yourself on the basis of your conscious feelings. Although you may have a clear idea of what you are doing and why, by ordinary standards your behaviour is nonconformist and deviant! Whether your behaviour is highly original and innovative, or just erratic and stubbornly rebellious, will depend on how much self-discip- line you are able to muster, for you are unlikely to respond well to outer controls, as you demand a great deal of freedom in action. You also thrive on excitement, but you should be careful not to take unnecessary risks, other- wise accidents or unexpected complications will accompany your exploits. Mars Opposition Ascendant Your psychological drive towards acting on the basis of your conscious feel- ings about people and situations features strongly in your life, but it is expressed in a way which operates against your spontaneous initial approach to life. How this affects you will depend on how you deal with your aggre- ssion. Some people with this aspect are very quick to take offence on the slightest provocation, and respond in a very aggressive fashion in self-def- ence. Others do not consciously seek fights, but nevertheless attract other people who are strong-willed and assertive, and find that arguments still happen. In either case, you need to achieve a better balance when it comes to issues of self-assertion, using your strength more appropriately. Jupiter Semisextile or Quincunx Ascendant You are likely to feel some stress in finding out a philosophy of life for yourself, since you feel a conflict between the need to act naturally and the need to conform to the moral code you inherited from your upbring- ing. In fact both needs are valid, and once you sort out your priorities your philosophy will be that much the richer, being based on experience. Saturn Square Uranus Your upbringing has had a strong effect on you, but it has left you with pro- blems with discipline. There is a conflict between your need to toe the line, conforming to society's requirements, and your need to escape from the limit- ations on your freedom that this imposes, by acting unpredictably and in a non-conformist rebellious way. You need to learn that there is a false di- chotomy between freedom and conformity, though you may find it hard to see it this way. Until you do so, you are likely to go to extremes, perhaps con- forming most of the time, albeit grudgingly, then rebelling in a stubborn way which leads to problems with authority. At other times you may be too easy- going, then suddenly apply the brakes, leading to problems in relationships. Saturn Trine Neptune Your upbringing has left you with an excellent balance between your imagin- ation and common sense, which means that you have the ability to make your dreams come true more easily than most people. There is a strong idealistic streak in your make-up, and you willingly work hard to make your visions a reality. You are able to use the resources in the world when necessary, if this fits in with your plans, but your real interest lies in achieving your inner hopes and wishes rather than external success. Thus you may be positively interested in religion or the betterment of mankind, and you do not show much overt interest in ordinary affairs, indeed you may appear quite ascetic in your tastes, as you have chosen to follow an inner path. Saturn Sextile Pluto Your upbringing has left you with a conscience structure which allows you to tap into your unconscious creative ability in such a way that you are able to make changes both within yourself and in the world in a constructive way and with lasting effects. You feel a strong need to find out things for yourself and to succeed through your own efforts, though you are capable of cooperation when necessary. Your sense of direction combined with common sense and discipline enable you to achieve success with the minimum of raw materials. While you are keen to see the world behave according to plan, and you will try to make this happen, you should not allow yourself to for- get that theoretical and emotional factors are also of importance. Uranus Opposition Ascendant You have strong beliefs about the nature of the objective world derived from your upbringing, and these sometimes get in the way of your acting naturally. Perhaps you believe that relationships tend not to last, and you therefore tend to attract unreliable people who let you down, or exciting people who lack the stability required in a longer-term relationship. As you become older you are likely to become more aware of your own considerable need to be free to experiment for yourself, and you may stretch the patience of others considerably. You need to learn to compromise really: you need to express your own needs for independence, but unless you want to be alone you will have to make some concessions to get along with others closely. Neptune Sextile Pluto You were brought up during a period of constructive change, and you have thus learned that for improvement to occur neither direct self-assertion according to the will of your raw unconscious urges, nor faith in human nature derived from your childhood understandings from how you were taught you ought to feel are enough by themselves, yet a suitable combination of assertion and comp- assion may work. You may not be conscious of this talent you have, for it is shared by many people of your time, but this does not reduce its import- ance. Being just one of many does not absolve you from the obligation to be alert for the opportunity to assist in constructive change, and you need to cooperate with others to make the most of this highly important aspect. --taken from http://www.fortunecity.com/roswell/jekyll/75/
