Eight Random Things

07-08-05 @ 9:55 am EDT

Just to get it out of the way:

The penpal person posted ANOTHER ad, with ANOTHER e-mail address. Still no reply to me. I must assume that she wants all kinds of friends, she just doesn't want ME as her friend, and despite her promise that she knows how it hurts and would never do such a thing, she's too cowardly to just let me know. Makes me wonder why *I* bother promising to be upfront with people when I don't want to be their friend. (Not that I have people lining up, but still.) I think I should take a hint from these people and start lying and leaving them hanging. It's only the popular thing to do.

I tried e-mailing another person on the site but have not gotten a response and am just not expecting one. That's how it goes.

Random things...

* Poor Britain. :(

* I can't get the Freedom Of Speech Fanfiction site to load for some reason. It always says it's under construction and the domain is for sale. But at least two other people are currently accessing it just fine. And it's weird because I only went back because I finally got a reply to a forum post I made there a couple of weeks ago. I got that e-mail dated yesterday, and...it looks like the site's been taken down since then. But others are using it. ??? Have I been banned without knowing it? All I did was suggest that "Fantasy" be added as a genre there. I wasn't even rude about it (even though I don't see why I should have HAD to be asking for Fantasy to be added). It seems my luck to be banned from sites without even knowing what I did wrong. :/

* I got three twirls from the cat today. :D It's like every time I turned around, there was something new waiting for me. I don't think he's ever done three twirls for me all in a row like that. He must really want the attention.

* I read at Amazon that Vertical Horizon has rereleased their Go CD from 2003. :/ Only it has an extra track on it. The reviewer was quite livid. Apparently he feels he should not have to pay a second time for an entire CD just to get one new song, but that's the way the music business is. According to what he posted, the first version of the album tanked :*( , so Vertical Horizon dropped their label and went to a new one, and have rereleased Go. It has new cover art and everything but is the same album, just with a new song. This is what the reviewer said. I went back to look at the CD (I think it was the same one, at least) but that review was no longer there. ? The reviewer was also angry that they seemed to be releasing it as if it were completely new, and there was no mention of the original version of the CD. Even in the professional review Amazon has for the new Go, there's no mention of it being a rerelease. There wasn't even a track listing as of the last time I checked. I just noticed somebody on eBay selling a copy of what looks to be that CD. It has a broken propeller on the cover. It was just released at the end of June. I wonder if Wal-Mart will carry it. I'd hate paying for a CD I already have but I would like to hear that new song, plus, I feel bad that the first version tanked when IMO it was a really good album and could have used better promoting. Only one song on the radio! Total waste! Vertical Horizon deserves better than that. That one song used to cheer me up whenever it came on the radio. (The good old days, when a mere song could do that. -_- ) The thing is--seeing as this rerelease is seemingly being treated as a "new" album release--does that mean I will have to wait another two or three years for a NEW Vertical Horizon album? :*(

* Bought the new Backstreet Boys CD. SHUT UP!! I really like "Incomplete," okay?? But I'm also liking "Lose It All," which sounds like it could be a nice love theme for Thomas and Charmian, though I have yet to look up the lyrics and see if it's actually a love theme at all...

* One of my elementary school teachers asked for my writing site URLs to read. *sigh* -_- Why does Ma keep asking me for those URLs?? Nobody she gives them to ever reads them. I'm thoroughly convinced that there is not one single other person in the entire county of Cheboygan who reads fantasy or mythology. (The used bookstore shelves are loaded with...tacky romance novels and Star Trek novelizations. I kid you not. I went there twice. NO CHANGE.) I really doubt the former Miss Jellison would care for any of my writing. And it would probably freak her out anyway. And I'm talking about the PG-13 stuff, too.

* I really, really want a tourist booklet on Mackinac Island from eBay but I've seen the same copy sell for like over $30 on there before, and I doubt I would be able to hold my own against other bidders...damn other-bidders-interested-in-Mackinac-Island...I remember the good old days, when I was the only person interested in Mackinac Island. :(

Hm. Going blank. :/ The final item, then...

* Return To Manitou Island is done. 605,000 words.
